Adify Deploys Vyatta Appliance
San Mateo, Calif. (PRWeb) January 17, 2007 -- Vyatta today announced that online advertising company Adify has deployed a Vyatta appliance, based on the industry’s first business-class open-source router and firewall software as part of its internal corporate network infrastructure. With the fully supported, enterprise-ready Vyatta appliance, Adify is in the process of expanding its network infrastructure with more choice and at a fraction of the cost of closed-source solutions from companies such as Cisco, Juniper, and others.
“Our goal in evaluating the Vyatta appliance was not about adopting open source, but about finding a dependable, feature-rich, fully supported routing and firewall solution at a better price point than the closed-source companies currently offer,” said Charles Stewart, vice president of operations with Adify. “With Vyatta, we have been able to achieve the performance and reliability we demand at an exceptional price point. Using industry-standard hardware provides us with unmatched flexibility, which allows us to adapt and expand as our needs change and grow.”
Adify is currently using the Vyatta Appliance, along with a second instance of the Vyatta software installed on another standard hardware platform, for its internal IT infrastructure. The company initially deployed the Vyatta solution to segment its VoIP network from its corporate data network. After the success of the solution in improving the employee experience, the company’s IT group decided to look to Vyatta when they needed to replace the existing router at the gateway of the corporate network. Now, all IP traffic at the corporate headquarters runs though the Vyatta Appliance, which is more than able to keep up with the performance demands, even while performing security tasks.
“Vyatta has surpassed our expectations with a very high level of support and customer service,” added Stewart. “The idea of a robust, fully supported open-source routing and security platform is very exciting and the Vyatta Appliance has delivered a solid alternative to the closed, proprietary vendors. We look forward to watching Vyatta move up the value chain and disrupt the networking world.”
“Adify’s experience demonstrates that pragmatic business-oriented customers will gain significant economic benefits and increased flexibility by moving to a Vyatta-based network,” said Kelly Herrell, CEO of Vyatta. “While many in the industry have doubted whether open-source networking is able to deliver, Adify and other Vyatta customers are achieving real business benefits and reporting increased user satisfaction, proving that open-source isn’t just a curiosity, it’s the future of networking infrastructure.”
